Emerge Wins Crain's Detroit Business Excellence in HR Award for Innovations in Recruiting

Crain’s Detroit Business announced the winners of this year’s Excellence in HR awards, showcasing the innovative strategies and initiatives of HR leaders in navigating today’s challenging talent landscape. Against the backdrop of staffing shortages and low unemployment rates, the 2024 award winners have demonstrated exceptional creativity in attracting and retaining talent while prioritizing personal and professional development, employee well-being, and the integration of new technologies.

Emerge, a consultancy based in Royal Oak, has secured a significant win by clinching the Excellence in HR Award for the second consecutive year. In 2023 Emerge was honored in the HR Technology category, while in 2024 they were recognized for Innovations in Recruiting. This achievement underscores Emerge’s commitment to pioneering strategies that not only address industry challenges but also drive tangible results for their clients.

Led by Founder and Managing Partner Joe Bamberger, Emerge has distinguished itself by partnering with colleges and universities to design flexible programs that cater to the evolving needs of students and employers alike. One such program, developed by Emerge’s Talent Pipeline Management team, has been instrumental for a mid-sized public accounting firm.

Joe Bamberger explains, “Recognizing the importance of preparing students for their careers, we introduced two internships: the Dual Internship and the Rotational Internship.” The Dual Internship allows students to gain consecutive internships across different departments, while the Rotational Internship enables them to rotate within departments during a single internship season, providing a comprehensive and immersive experience.

In addition to these innovative internship programs, Emerge has forged a strategic partnership with Adrian College, offering a 50% scholarship to new staff accountants pursuing the completion of the Adrian Master of Science in Accountancy program. This initiative not only supports employee career growth but also strengthens ties between academia and industry, fostering a pipeline of skilled talent.

Moreover, Emerge’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in their efforts to attract diverse talent from out of state. They have facilitated on-campus summer housing at Oakland University, making it easier for candidates to explore career opportunities in Michigan.

Emerge’s recognition in the Innovations in Recruiting category is a testament to their proactive approach, creative solutions, and unwavering dedication to reshaping the recruitment landscape. As they continue to lead the way in talent acquisition and development, Emerge sets a benchmark for excellence in HR practices, driving meaningful impact for their clients and the broader community.
